What’s posted

Lakewood's ADU Pre-Approved Program page states the city has an 'AB 1332 compliant' pre-approved ADU program, explains how architects/designers may submit plans for posting, and currently lists one plan preparer - Olfati Design Group (Ali Olfati, 562-619-6768) - with 2 pre-approved plans: a 363 sf garage-conversion studio and a 500 sf new-construction 1BR/1BA.

lakewoodca.gov returns 403 to direct fetchers; program page content retrieved via reader proxy of the live URL. Program explicitly accepts third-party (architect/designer) plan submissions with hold-harmless agreements. Adversarially re-verified 2026-07-30: fresh independent reader-proxy fetch rendered the 'Pre-approved ADU Contact List' with Olfati Design Group (Ali Olfati, 562-619-6768) and both plans (Floor Plan 1 - 363 sq ft garage-conversion studio; Floor Plan 2 - 500 sq ft new-construction 1bd/1ba); page cites CGC 65852.27 by name. Thinnest of the posted set: one preparer, two plans, list-form only.

Any other agency can adopt these plans

Cal. Gov. Code § 65852.27, added by Stats. 2023, ch. 759, amended by Stats. 2024, ch. 7 (SB 477) (§ 65852.27(a)(5)) lets any California local agency admit into its own program plans “A local agency may also admit the following accessory dwelling unit plans into the program: (A) Plans that have been developed and preapproved by the local agency. (B) Plans that have been preapproved by other agencies within the state.” A city or county without a preapproval program of its own can post City of Lakewood’s plans as part of its own program instead of designing new ones — see the full statewide catalog for more options.

We build and maintain the program page, the plan library and the required third-party submission path for agencies that want to stand this up: $1,950 setup + $3,600/year (year one all-in $5,550).
